This article is a theoretical analysis of the contributions of the literary work Lolo Barnabé to the psychoanalytic understanding of the contemporary uneasiness. The research aims to identify and interpret narrative elements present in the children’s story Lolo Barnabé that may symbolize current uneasiness and relate them to concepts from psychoanalytic theory. The goal is to understand how the relentless pursuit of eliminating discontent influences human experience, with a particular focus on the phenomenon of consumerism. It is also considered that children’s stories, as manifestations of fantasy and imagination, play a crucial role in confronting fears and desires, resolving conflicts, and constructing identity. This work argues that children’s narratives play a fundamental role in symbolizing the effects resulting from the incessant quest to eliminate all discomfort, revealing how this pursuit, paradoxically, generates increasing dissatisfaction in individuals.
