The author makes some considerations regarding what he calls “the civilizing arrogance” revealed by the molecule that, causing an unprecedented planetary crisis, has put humanity in a different place. The planetary crisis brought by the covid-19 made clear that we are not the owners of the world and that we need to question many of our illusions. Gagarin’s famous and emblematic phrase “The Earth is blue” is used as a metaphor for a great illusion that is now falling apart.
