Abstract

A psychoanalytic commentary on the book Quase memória, by C. H. Cony is carried out, with the aim of discuss the destinations of the libido at the work of mourning. It is argued that the chronicle genre has a power of a testimony in face of situations of loss and trauma. Reference is made to Kehl, Buttler, Ferenczi and the Os inumeráveis project in order to emphasize that the elaboration of mourning is an essential factor in health promotion and that, although it is experienced as an intrapsychic process, mourning has a political and social dimension. In conclusion, the current moment in Brazil is discussed, in which hundreds of thousands of families are still mourning relatives who have died as a result of covid-19, while the current federal government persists in strategy of disqualifying the suffering of survivors and denying his responsibility in the generation of this social tragedy.
