Abstract

PINTO, Ariel Campos; CHAVES, Wilson Camilo  and  TEODORO, Elizabeth Fátima. MELANCHOLIC IDENTIFICATION WITH THE PRODUCT OF WORK: A MALAISE IN CULTURE. Reverso [online]. 2022, vol.44, n.83, pp.43-52.  Epub Oct 28, 2024. ISSN 0102-7395.  https://doi.org/10.5935/0102-7395.v44n83.05.

From the perspective of the economy of melancholy, we discuss the discontent of our time expressed in the relations of proletarian work. We observed an economic correlation between the question of expropriation of the worker in capitalism and the realization of a strange work, with what Freud demonstrates as the mechanism of identification of the Self with the lost object of satisfaction, when describing the economy of melancholic desire. Through a psychoanalytic-based theoretical investigation, we aim to reflect on the contemporary imperative of work and its effect on the formation of individuals identified with capitalist culture.

Keywords : Melancholy; Worker; Product of work; Malaise.
