The author outlines an overview of the main issues involving the concepts of gender and transsexuality. She brings historical and social considerations such as the importance of culture and media in changing mentalities, ending with psychoanalytical reflections on the subject and what can be expected from Psychoanalysis and psychoanalysts in the face of these issues.
