This study aims to carry out an analysis of Jacques Lacan’s theory of discourses, based on his XVII Seminar - The Reverse of Psychoanalysis. We will emphasize the Master’s discourse, in its historical aspect, which organizes the other discourses, bringing the capitalist’s discourse, commonly known today as the modern avatar of the master, or a fifth discourse, which has the ability to translate diverse human actions, such as the ones of a sentimental nature, which involves sexuality and its vicissitudes, in the condition of attitudes of the subject to a value expressed in the consume of the object “a”.
