PELENZ, Maria Lúcia Fank e BURGARELLI, Cristóvão Giovani. BETWEEN LANGUAGE AND JOUISSANCE THE WRITING OF SYMPTOM. Reverso [online]. 2022, vol.44, n.84, pp.69-78. Epub 22-Nov-2024. ISSN 0102-7395. https://doi.org/10.5935/0102-7395.v44n84.08.
We intend to discuss the thesis that the writing of the symptom occurs both through the signifying inscription, with its consequent chaining, and through the effect of what falls as the remainder of this operation and is fixed as jouissance and summons a letter. Following Lacan’s trail in The instance of the letter in the unconscious, we begin our discussion with Freud’s condensation and displacement, seeking to understand the symptom as a metaphor for the question of being, and desire as the metonymy of a lack. Then, continuing with other texts by Lacan, we aim to show that jouissance sustains the differential trait that chained signifiers carve in symptomatic repetitions.
