The reflection on food practices can be an interesting starting point for understanding social and identity structures deeply rooted in Brazilian sociopolitical history. In this sense, the objective of the article is to analyze the field of food in light of the problem of identity in psychoanalysis and the traumatic dimension that characterizes the processes of formation of social bonds in Brazil, especially regarding the symbolic matrices arising from a colonial past as distant as it is present.
