Based on the dialogue between psychoanalysis and literature, we aim to analyze the schize between the eye and the gaze, as presented by Lacan in Seminar 11, approaching central clinical issues such as the gaze, anguish and object a. For this purpose, we examine the novel Orphans of Eldorado (2008), by the Amazonian writer Milton Hatoum, where we can identify elements of this important discussion pointed out by Lacan.
