Abstract

GONCALVES, Carmen Regina Teixeira. Racialization as an effect of colonialism and psychic constitution. Reverso [online]. 2025, vol.47, n.89, pp.105-111.  Epub Oct 24, 2025. ISSN 0102-7395.  https://doi.org/10.5935/0102-7395.v47n89.12.

This article discusses colonialism in the constitution of the subjectivities of black people, focusing on the notion of humanity and its impact on social and psychic realities. It is based on Frantz Fanon’s concept of race in the construction of black subjectivity and its comparison with Freud’s Evil in Culture. The dynamic of the mirror stage raises questions about the construction of subjectivities based on the other, which racializes and stereotypes bodies, in other words, empties them of humanity. The contemporary clinic receives demands that claim the place from the humanity in the plurality of subjects, and how psychoanalysis has or hasn’t done this listening.

Keywords : colonialism; race; black subjectivity..
