SARAIVA, Eduardo Steindorf; UZIEL, Anna Paula e COSSUL, Danielli. GAY FATHERHOOD: SOME TRAITS FROM THE COUNTRYSIDE. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2022, vol.34, n.3, pp.531-552. Epub 02-Ago-2024. ISSN 0103-5665. https://doi.org/10.33208/pc1980-5438v0034n03a05.
The field of gay parenting has attracted the attention of researchers across the country, and there are a variety of topics to explore, such as the one studied in this paper, which approaches the constitution, specificities, and experiences of homoparental families from countryside towns. This article presents situations and experiences of gay men parents. As cartographers, building this research was made possible through insertions, observations, listening, and theorizing. The possibility of experiencing family arrangements that blur what is considered traditional is surrounded by challenges and taboos. The interviewees’ narratives elucidate that the active and legitimate presence of gay parents and their children still results in struggles with the attempts at making them invisible, observed in countryside contexts. We have recognized that “coming out of the closet” and “coming out gay” was only possible as a result of years of emotional effort and the acquisition of legal rights. We have realized that the viability of a homosexual parenting project requires the feasibility and recognition of their own way of being and experiencing the world.
