Self-perception can be defined as the subject’s knowledge of themselves, based on their affective and social elements, skills, competences and difficulties. In adolescence, this construction is extremely relevant for directing future projects. The aim of this study was to describe, through a systematic review of the literature, the instruments used in research to assess the self-perception construct. Articles published in the period from 2008 to 2019 in the CAPES and Adolec Brasil virtual libraries were investigated. With 36 articles in the final analysis, the results showed the predominance of psychometric instruments. It is concluded that there is a need to use in research a combination of instruments with different styles, accessing data not only quantitatively, but also qualitatively, thus allowing a broad and flexible view on the construction of self-perception.
Palavras-chave : self-perception; adolescents; assessment instruments.
