LIMA, Bruno Huffel de et al. THERAPEUTIC EFFECTS OF GROUP PSYCHOTHERAPY WITH A PSYCHOANALYTIC APPROACH: AN EXPERIENCE IN PUBLIC POLICY. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2023, vol.35, n.1, pp.129-151.  Epub 26-Ago-2024. ISSN 0103-5665.  https://doi.org/10.33208/pc1980-5438v0035n01a06.

For psychoanalytic-based therapies, the symptom is no longer a condition of a morbid product and becomes a psychic conflict, and the word comes to dominate the therapy. The Human Development Group (GDH) is characterized as a proposal for mental health care based on group care in public services, with psychoanalysis as the main theoretical framework. This study aimed to analyze the therapeutic effects of GDH from the psychic changes reported by two participants of these groups. The clinical-qualitative method and in-depth interviews with the users participating in the groups were employed. The analyses undertaken point to the occurrence of therapeutic effects due to participation in psychotherapeutic groups, which include changes in the way previous experiences are perceived, in their self-perception, in the importance of other people, as well as how to deal with any conflicts that may arise, which demonstrates a better capacity for reflection and improvement of the “thinking apparatus” proposed by Bion. In this sense, the potential of psychotherapeutic groups promoted by the GDH stands out as another form of mental health care. It is also highlighted that this proposal reveals possibilities for psychoanalysis to contribute to the context of public politics.
