MENDEZ, Jaime Humberto Moreno et al. SOCIODEMOGRAPHIC, PSYCHOPATHOLOGICAL, AND ADAPTIVE VARIABLES ASSOCIATED WITH INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE DURING THE PANDEMIC. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2023, vol.35, n.3, pp.475-498.  Epub 11-Oct-2024. ISSN 0103-5665.  https://doi.org/10.33208/pc1980-5438v0035n03a02.

The aim of this study was to identify the sociodemographic, psychopathological, and adaptive variables in Colombian adults associated with intimate partner violence during the pandemic. The sample consisted of 133 adults between 18 and 35 years old (M=24.89; SD=4.16). The following instruments were applied: Conflict in Adolescent Dating Relationships Inventory (CADRI), a version adapted to Spanish for the young adult population, Revised Symptom List (SCL-90-R), a self-report questionnaire of psychological variables, and the Couple Relationship Adaptation Scale during the Covid-19 Pandemic, prepared for this study. It was found that verbal violence was the most committed and suffered by the participants, especially by those who reported attempting suicide. Somatization symptoms were the most experienced by the sample (40.6%), followed by depression (37.6%), psychoticism (36.1%), and phobic anxiety (32.3%). Domestic violence was also more frequent among those who were separated or in a stable relationship during the pandemic and among those with lower levels of education. The results suggest the importance of interventions aimed at couples with characteristics at risk for violence, which were evident during the pandemic.

Palabras llave : intimate partner violence; pandemic; psychopathological symptoms; adaptation.
