Abstract

MAZZITELLI, Belcris Brochier  and  SERAFINI, Adriana Jung. STANDARDIZED SCALES AND STRUCTURED TASKS FOR JOINT ATTENTION ASSESSMENT IN AUTISM: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2023, vol.35, n.3, pp.561-588.  Epub Oct 11, 2024. ISSN 0103-5665.  https://doi.org/10.33208/pc1980-5438v0035n03a06.

Joint attention is a reliable early sign of autism spectrum disorder and is related to later language development. This review aimed to identify measurements for assessing joint attention in children aged zero to 71 months. The searches were carried out on PubMed, PsycINFO, SciELO, Lilacs and Scopus, and reported based on PRISMA guidelines. From the 669 selected papers, 15 articles were included in the review. Twelve joint attention measurements were found: eight standardized scales and four structured tasks. Only two of the standardized scales have a Portuguese translation, but none with populational psychometric studies. This review contributed as an overview of measurements for the assessment of joint attention and suggests further studies on this skill and on its measurement techniques.

Keywords : joint attention; autism; psychological assessment.
