Abstract

MANSUR-ALVES, Marcela; MARTINS, Pedro S. R.; LIMA, Lucas Martins  and  NEUFELD, Carmem Beatriz. ALMOST PERFECT SCALE – REVISED (APS-R): NORMATIVE DATA FOR A BRAZILIAN ADULTS’ SAMPLE. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2023, vol.35, n.3, pp.589-629.  Epub Oct 11, 2024. ISSN 0103-5665.  https://doi.org/10.33208/pc1980-5438v0035n03a07.

Considering the importance of perfectionism for outcomes in mental health, this study aims to present reference values for the Almost Perfect Scale – Revised (APS-R) for Brazilian adults. The APS-R is a perfectionism self-report scale that measures three dimensions (standards, order, and discrepancy), by means of 23 items. This scale was applied to 1,856 participants, with ages ranging from 16 to 60 years old (M=24.14; SD=6.36), 67% females, most from the Southeast region of Brazil. Analyses indicated an acceptable fit for the three dimensions model of the APS-R, which was used, then, to create the reference values. Considering the results of the group comparison analysis, the percentiles for the scales are presented according to sex and age. This study presents important results for the use of one of the main perfectionism scales. The APS-R could be used by mental health professionals aiming for a more reliable and standardized evaluation of perfectionism levels and progress monitoring in the therapeutic context.
