Resumen

SANTANA, Suely de Melo et al. DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, AND CYBERBULLYING IN ADOLESCENTS FROM PERNAMBUCO. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2023, vol.35, n.3, pp.631-651.  Epub 11-Oct-2024. ISSN 0103-5665.  https://doi.org/10.33208/pc1980-5438v0035n03a08.

With the advent of new information and digital communication technologies, new threats to adolescent mental health arise, such as cyberbullying. The aim of this study was to verify the association between depressive and anxious symptoms and cyberbullying in adolescents aged 13 to 15 years in the state of Pernambuco (Brazil), as well the sociodemographic and gender differences. The sample consisted of 501 adolescents. The instruments used were the HBSC Protocol, CDI and SCAS, adapted to Brazilian Portuguese. Internal consistency, correlation, t-test, chi-square and descriptive analyses were performed. A prevalence of 32.3% was observed for cyberbullying at least once in the last two months, associated with depression, but not anxiety. There was also a correlation between the investigated forms of victimization. It is hoped that these results can support action strategies to reduce digital violence in adolescence.

Palabras llave : cyberbullying; adolescents; depression; anxiety.
