MACHADO, Mariana Rodrigues; PELOSO, Franciele Cristiane; DIEHL, Aline Bonini Reis Pedroso  y  MOSMANN, Clarisse Pereira. PSYCHOMETRIC PROPERTIES OF THE DIFFICULTIES IN EMOTION REGULATION SCALE FOR ADOLESCENTS. Psicol. clin. [online]. 2025, vol.37, e016.  Epub 13-Oct-2025. The Difficulties in Emotional Regulation Scale (DERS) was developed to measure clinically relevant difficulties in emotional regulation. This study aimed to investigate the psychometric properties of the DERS in the abbreviated version for 16 items (DERS-16) in a sample of 286 adolescents aged between 11 and 18 years (M=14.44 years, SD=1.86). Confirmatory factor analyses were performed using structural equation modeling to test the factor structure of the sample. The reliability of the scale was tested using Cronbach’s Alpha, Average Variance Extracted and Composite Reliability coefficients. Convergent validity was verified considering Youth Self-Report (YSR) measures, and invariance between groups of boys and girls was assessed by multigroup confirmatory factor analysis. The result indicated a five-factor structure, with good model fit and invariance among specific groups. The reliability of the scale showed adequate values. The tests carried out suggest that the DERS-16 presents satisfactory psychometric properties in the population of adolescents in the sample. The scale can help identify adolescents with difficulties in emotional regulation and aid in planning individualized therapeutic interventions.
