The person-centered therapy takes it that the experiences and emotional expressions in dealing with grief are unique and culturally situated, and that the therapist must facilitate the integration of the loss into the current experience of the world. The objective of this study was to carry out a case study of a bereaved person in an online therapeutic process. Qualitative research was carried out and the single-type case study method and content analysis of the sessions were used. The results highlighted two categories: reorganization of self and family dynamics; and contact and expression of emotions. It was observed that the symbolization of loss enabled a reorganization of the self and the self-in-relationship, as well as changed the way the person dealt with emotions. At the end of psychological counseling, there was a greater openness to experience and figurative fluidity, insights and a broader perception of oneself and the context of loss. It is expected that this research contributes to a deeper understanding of the phenomenon of grief, and allows the development of new studies in clinical psychology from a person-centered perspective.
