The article deals with cultural productions and what we can extract from them to better understand the heritage and historical truths of the people. Starting with a brief investigation of the intricate relationship between psychoanalysis and fiction, the author proposes an approach to Brazilian literature to understand the racist heritage we carry. Fiction and psychoanalysis can provide feedback and find a way to cure the Brazilian neurosis, which, according to the thinker Lélia Gonzalez, racism is its biggest symptom.
