Abstract

PERUZZOLO, Andrea R.. From TikTok to Think Talk: is it possible?. J. psicanal. [online]. 2023, vol.56, n.104, pp.119-129.  Epub Aug 23, 2024. ISSN 0103-5835.  https://doi.org/10.5935/0103-5835.v56n104.09.

The present article investigates the impact of social networks in the production of new subjectivities, more specifically of adolescents. It presents a parallel between a mechanical action performed by Instagram/TikTok users, the doomscrolling, and a mental mechanism presented by some adolescents in the clinical situation. It identifies some intertwining between the mass movement described by Freud and its specifities and similarities with the functioning of social networks, as well as the narcissistic issues involved in this relationship with the subject/adolescent and some emotional implications experienced by them as a result of this media system.

Keywords : psychoanalysis; social networks; adolescents; subjectivity; primal process.
