This article aims to discuss the themes of hope and hopelessness from the notion of primary creativity, based on the thinking of Donald Winnicott. In the reading performed, we observe that these phenomena intertwine to the first encounters between a baby and its environment. From evil or successful initial relationships therefore emerge hope or hopelessness. The understanding of these themes intends to be given through the representations of the Italian film Life is beautiful, directed by Roberto Benigni.
