This work aims to provoke reflections on violence and hope. In the first part, excerpts from the theories of Piera Aulagnier, Donald Winnicott and linkage psychoanalysis are presented, which talk about the way in which the external world crosses and circumscribes the subject in a context of violence. It is explored that violence has the characteristics of being an experience in action, an effect of presence and multidirectional. In the second part, the author defines what hope is and indicate that its attributes are opposite to those of violence. Finally, using excerpts from the novel “On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous”, by Ocean Vuong, exemplifies how the author works with these themes.
