Abstract

DINIZ, Juliana Belo  and  LEITE, Rodrigo Lage. Between object and evidence: hope and creativity in mental health debates. J. psicanal. [online]. 2024, vol.57, n.106, pp.171-186.  Epub Aug 26, 2024. ISSN 0103-5835.  https://doi.org/10.5935/0103-5835.v57n106.12.

While the limitations and shortcomings of biological reductionism make it urgent to reintroduce other forms of understanding into scientific discourse, psychoanalysis - which has never retreated in the face of the limits of an ideal of objectivity - offers an apprehension of the clinical experience that goes beyond what traditional clinical trials can offer. From the discussion on the effects of the nature of the object and the limitations of so-called evidence-based medicine, we reaffirm the hope for a future in which not only does psychoanalysis participate in scientific discourse, but it can also establish an alternative to the crisis of the model that seeks biological markers for all forms of psychic suffering.

Keywords : evidence-based medicine; science; technology and society; psychoanalysis; controlled clinical trial.
