The development of executive functions is influenced by the socioeconomic and environmental context. However, studies that explore the effects of economic indicators, parent-child interaction and children’s executive functions in Brazil are scarce. The objective of this research was to explore the relationships between family socioeconomic level and the moments of the parents with the child in the child’s performance in executive functions. Questionnaires were applied to parents and computerized neuropsychological tasks were performed with 45 children aged between six and 10 years, with similar socioeconomic status, from two cities in Paraíba. The results on the effects of age and education on the development of executive functions differed from the main investigations reported in the literature before the COVID-19 pandemic. There were no statistically significant differences between the performance in executive functions and profession of the main caregiver, mother’s and father’s education, family income and number of moments between the child and the caregiver. It is concluded that among families of similar socio-economic status, the characteristics of the family environment and the executive profile of the children seem to be similar. The findings also point to the possible damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the removal of face-to-face school activities on child executive development.
