Psychoeducation is a form of intervention that can be used as a measure to protect and prevent the mental health of university students. This study assessed the effect of a psychoeducational intervention on the quality of life of students in two public universities in the state of Goiás. It was a quasi-experimental longitudinal study of the beforeand-after type, conducted with students who participated in the intervention at two Brazilian public universities. Strategies to promote self-knowledge and principles of systemic theory were used. Data were collected during the semesters of 2020 and 2021 using the sociodemographic questionnaire and the WHOQOL-bref. Differences in variables at two different moments of the study were analyzed using the paired Student’s t test and the non-parametric Wilcoxon test. The McNemar test was used to compare sociodemographic and behavioral variables before and after the intervention. Eighty-six students underwent the psychoeducational intervention, with the majority being female (72.09%), self-declared mixed race (40.7%), under 23 years old (58.14%) and from the healthcare field (66.28%). Self-perception of quality of life (p=0.001) and scores for the physical (p=0.001), psychological (p<0.001), and social relationships (p=0.001) domains were significantly higher after the intervention, and this improvement was not due to sociodemographic and behavioral changes since there were no changes (p<0.05) for the evaluated variables, except for marital status. This type of psychoeducational intervention proved to be useful in promoting the quality of life of university students and can be a practice adopted by Higher Education institutions.
