Entering university life is an important period, as students face academic and social challenges. Social skills in this context are essential, and quality of life is directly influenced by a repertoire of skills developed or not. This research aimed to analyze the social skills and quality of life of Higher Education students in psychology course. 328 psychology students regularly enrolled in public and private Higher Education institutions in Brazil participated. The instruments used were a sociodemographic questionnaire to identify the academic profile, the Social Skills Questionnaire (CHASO) and the WHOQOL-bref Quality of Life Questionnaire. The results showed that the social skills with the highest average scores were “Expressing positive feelings”, “Apologizing”, “Facing Criticism” and “Denying requests”, and those with the lowest average scores were “Dealing with situations of exposure to ridicule”, “Interact with strangers”, “Defend your own rights” and “Interact with people who attract me”. The assessment of the students’ quality of life showed that they had an impaired QoL in the four domains assessed - physical, psychological, social and environmental - and that more than half of the sample considered their quality of life to be regular or in need of improvement. This research adds valuable information regarding knowledge in psychology and education, in addition to being the starting point for future studies on training models and interventions in the field.
