This study analyzes the situation of employment and unemployment among young people in the municipality of Santa Cruz do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul State. Statistical data show for this municipality a widely process that characterizes the situation of young people in the brazilian labor market. The precarious condition of insertion and permanence of young people in the labor market reveal simultaneously an uncertain future related to get a formal job and a challenge to build effective job policies.
