Based on reflections upon the impact that Walter Salles’ film, Behind the Sun, made on them, the authors developed this research around the notions of resentment, rancor, and vengeance, as well as their traumatic aspects. They explore nuances regarding the effects of generational transmission in situations of violence and cruelty, and also the centrality that mourning works – and especially the impossibility of conducting them – perform in certain psychic functionings.
