Abstract

VANNUCCHI, Ana Maria Stucchi. Why in-person psychoanalysis?. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2022, vol.56, n.3, pp.131-149.  Epub Aug 05, 2024. ISSN 0486-641X.  https://doi.org/10.5935/0486-641x.v56n3.10.

In this paper the author proposes thinking about some differences between online sessions and in-person sessions in the office, arguing that the presence of the body and sensorial reality are necessary so we can have access to the most primitive dimensions, and to the psychic reality of our analysands, as well as to the psychoanalytic object created by the analytic pair. In addition, she provides anecdotes of her clinical experience that seem to confirm that. She proposes an ethical attitude, which, in addition to investigating the new ways of seeing and having contact with patients, favors analysts asking themselves deep questions about how they feel more psychically present when seeing their patients.

Keywords : body; emotional experience; psychic reality; sensorial reality; ethics.
