When an overall climate of a violent time envelops human existence then often a counter-productive fierce mechanism of survival may become a way-of-life for its community. Set against an external environment of structural unrest of a socio-political and cultural locale in India, this paper attempts to read the psychoanalytical configurations of human subjectivity in its struggle for mere survival of the self/body in both resisting as well as participating in the practice of an inhumane order. It is frightening when community celebrations transform into exalted fiery patriarchal sexuated mass entertainment, and women bear the fatality of its consequences, both intra-psychically and structurally, in private and in public. The body of the woman continues to be in fraughted quandary in its struggle for survival in post-independent India. The paper attempts to record an arid time where passion loses its essential procreative characteristics and very often turns into sexualized expressions of various violent engagements.
