PINEDO, Martha Pereira Almeida e TOSTA, Rosa Maria. The rhythm in the parent-infant relationship and the subjectivation process. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2023, vol.57, n.2, pp.107-122. Epub 22-Nov-2024. ISSN 0486-641X. https://doi.org/10.69904/0486-641x.v57n2.08.
The authors aim to understand the role of rhythm in the infant’s subjectivation process. Based on Esther Bick’s infant observation method, they followed two cases of parents and their babies during the first year of the babies’ lives. The results were grouped into three rhythmic axes: bodily, vocal and ludic. Furthermore, the observations brought evidence that the co-construction of a rhythm between mother/father-baby – respecting the rhythm of the newborn – significantly favors the subjectivation process of the infant, as well as the development of the bond between the pair mother/father-baby.
