Abstract

SALGADO, Guilherme. Psychosomatics, an intersection between philosophy of mind and psychoanalysis. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2023, vol.57, n.3, pp.79-93.  Epub Nov 04, 2024. ISSN 0486-641X.  https://doi.org/10.69904/0486-641x.v57n3.06.

The author seeks to demonstrate the influence of relationships on mental experience and, on this basis, to postulate physical illness as a possible result of bonding and environmental turbulence. To do this, he establishes a dialogue between philosophy and psychoanalysis, presenting the main currents in the field of philosophy of mind and bringing to the debate some fundamental ideas of psychoanalysts such as Ronald Fairbairn, Wilfred Bion, Michael Balint and Donald Winnicott, in addition to Freud himself. The focus of this work will be the originality of Brazilian psychosomatic thinking, developed specifically at the Psychosomatic Medicine and Medical Psychology Center (Hospital Geral da Santa Casa, Rio de Janeiro).

Keywords : psychosomatics; psychoanalysis; philosophy of mind.
