Abstract

DALL’AGNO, Cátia Deon. Our days with Pituta: comments on cruelty and restoration. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2023, vol.57, n.3, pp.159-169.  Epub Nov 04, 2024. ISSN 0486-641X.  https://doi.org/10.69904/0486-641x.v57n3.11.

Drawing on her clinical experience during the pandemic years, a period in which she worked in a private office adjacent to her home in the company of her kitten Pituta, the author comments on cruelty and the need of ego restoration after it has been experienced as damaged in consequence of the subject’s attacks to their own internal objects. To comment on these themes, the author uses her post-pandemic experience, when, in many of her face-to-face appointments, she concretely incorporated the presence of Pituta, whenever the patient so wished. She reports on a clinical case of a 10-year-old child with phobic symptoms that emerged during the pandemic, in which the presence of the kitten proved to be of great help in the projection of the patient’s internal aspects, which were overflowing in transference.

Keywords : helplessness; loneliness; cruelty; restoration; object’s survival.
