Abstract

BARROS, Elizabeth L. Rocha. Emotional experience in the analytical field: theory and clinic. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2024, vol.58, n.1, pp.105-116.  Epub Nov 29, 2024. ISSN 0486-641X.  https://doi.org/10.69904/0486-641x.v58n1.08.

The term emotional experience is difficult to define. The author adopts the definition of direct, intuitive, immediate knowledge that we have of facts or phenomena. Some authors only consider there to be an experience in fact when, and only when, it is associated with an experience of meaning, in the context of a relationship. Initially the essay is illustrated with a discussion of a work of art, before and after there has been an expansion of knowledge about it, and then with a consideration of a clinical situation. The author uses the concept of ostensive insight and a reflection by Fédida.

Keywords : emotional experience; Bion; ostensive insight; Fédida; meaning and sense.
