In this article, the author addresses new perspectives on psychoanalytic listening “in layers” of active movements and passive defenses of the psyche, taking into account the two periods of analysis of Harry Guntrip, which include listening to Oedipal issues and active defenses, as well as early trauma. She aims to articulate this “layered” listening with the theory of psychic illnesses by activation and psychic illnesses by passivation, by Luís Claudio Figueiredo and Nelson Coelho Junior. Finally, she reflects on the position of the analyst and on the extent of the results obtained in this modality of clinical listening.
