The author presents an evolutionary study of psychoanalysis and its invariants over time, based on the originality and specificity of Sigmund Freud’s discovery. He considers the notions of intimacy, compassion, containment, and caesura in the analytical context, configuring the analysis session as a specific field for addressing certain human needs and achievements. He highlights the evolution in the perception of events in the analysis room, emphasizing the need for identification of psychic reality, and the necessary skills for the analyst to prioritize and develop in order to expand their possibilities of connecting with what is presented and perceived in the session. He also discusses the improvement of observational skills to enable and foster intuition. He reflects on the condition of approaching the psychic reality of the analysand, what permeates the analyst-analysand interaction, and what is reflected in the analyst’s mind, taking into account the multidimensionality of the mind, including aspects of the primordial mind. At the end, he presents clinical material correlating with the conceptual discussion.
