REZZE, Cecil José. Fortune and misfortune in the search for authentic pleasure. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2024, vol.58, n.3, pp.39-55.  Epub 28-Mar-2025. ISSN 0486-641X.  https://doi.org/10.69904/0486-641x.v58n3.04.

The initial stimulus for studying this topic - authentic pleasure - came from the clinical experiences of a client who said that the author needed pain to work. He points out that authentic pleasure emerges clinically as a possibility that complements pain, which is inscribed in the universal concept that pleasure and pain are part of human existence. Authentic pleasure is not a state of contemplation, although it can be; it is not a state of ecstasy, although it can be; it is not a state of pain, although it can be; it is not an insight, although it can be. These facts triggered the need to specify the concept of pleasure, in which the author was accompanied by Plato, who denied its importance, and Aristotle, who highlighted it as essential to a happy life. Many centuries later, Baumgarten introduced sensibility into philosophical studies. Kant emphasizes that the feeling of pleasure when encountering a beautiful representation is disinterested, universal, final and necessary. The apprehension of beauty introduces the aesthetic dimension from birth, as an essential element of mental development. Today, psychoanalysis intertwines the concepts of pleasure and authentic pleasure, aesthetics and art, which will require our extreme interest.
