Abstract
PERROTTA, Claudia Mazzini. About children and pigeons: hospitality actions towards the traumatized child. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2024, vol.58, n.3, pp.117-132. Epub Mar 28, 2025. ISSN 0486-641X. https://doi.org/10.69904/0486-641x.v58n3.10.
The author presents a reading of the film My afternoons with Margueritte, anchored in psychoanalysts who in the clinical practice highlight the importance of receiving with hospitality the child who lives in the sick adult. Emphasis is given to the offer of the toy-book by Margueritte - a 90-year-old woman, avid literature reader - to Germain, a middle-aged man, not very literate, identified with the image of being intellectually incapable that was consolidated in his biography. Based on Margueritte’s benevolent gaze and the recognition of Germain’s symbolic and imaginative capabilities, he was able to revisit and give new meaning to traumatic situations, especially with regard to the appropriation of the written word, thus being able to return to playing with this cultural object. Through deconstruction of the narrative and description of fragments of the film, the author proposes an analogy with psychoanalytic clinical practice, highlighting the importance of the ethics of care.
