Resumen

LEVY, Ruggero; WAGECK, Aline  y  GASTAUD, Marina Bento. Is a group “dreaming” possible?. Rev. bras. psicanál [online]. 2025, vol.59, n.3, pp.167-178.  Epub 14-Nov-2025. ISSN 0486-641X.  https://doi.org/10.69904/0486-641x.v59n3.13.

The authors reflect on the group’s capacity to “dream” clinical material and to form images and metaphors with high evocative power, reconstructing the analytic path traveled by both the patient and the analytic pair throughout the process. To this end, they discuss the particularities of the group’s associative processes, emphasizing interand pluridiscursivity, as well as the domestication of wild thoughts, which, within the group, find a thinker. In light of new tools for psychoanalytic investigation, they illustrate this with a description of an experience in a working party and the ways in which the group dreamed the clinical material. This kind of group dreaming renews faith in the psychoanalytic method, stimulates the maintenance of a sharp and permeable analytic listening receptive to the constructions of the other(s), revitalizes the modes of psychoanalytic transmission and teaching, and proves to be a valuable tool for ongoing analytic training.

Palabras llave : group; group functioning; reverie; dreaming; working party.
