The ruins of Velha Jaguaribara: Impacts and damages of compulsory displacement. This study aimed to investigate the effects of the programmed compulsory displacement process experienced by the residents of Nova Jaguaribara as a result of the construction of the Castanhão dam in the state of Ceará. It was an exploratory, descriptive, and qualitative research. The study had 08 participants of both sexes, residents of Velha Jaguaribara. They responded to an instrument: the Narrative Interview, which makes it possible to understand how the participants perceive and experience their environment. The interviews were understood through textual analysis in the Iramuteq software. The results show that populations affected by compulsory displacement are exposed to extremely harmful situations. The manifestation of psychic suffering and difficulty in linking to the new place can be seen, which can culminate in prolonged grief. It discusses how the understanding of human-environmental relations can help in the establishment of interventions that favor displaced communities.
