This is a qualitative biographical research, developed from the life history method, in order to understand the connections between agroecology and public health, with special attention to the dimensions of gender relations. The following research instruments were used: in-depth interviews, unsystematic observation and a field diary. All interviews were recorded, transcribed and submitted to content analysis. The reports of the research participant were categorized based on the analysis of thematic-categorical content: i) living in a semiarid region; ii) grassroots social movement and strengthening of gender relations; iii) agroecology, health senses and practices. The results of the study point to the systemic focus of agroecology, in addition to a model of agricultural production, highlighting its psychosocial, collective and political character, capable of expanding experiences of combating inequities in health and valuing diversified ways of life.
