Resumen

BARROS, João Paulo Pereira et al. Chacina do Curió: necropolitics, bodies in alliance and resistance. Estud. psicol. (Natal) [online]. 2023, vol.28, n.2, pp.252-262.  Epub 14-Mar-2025. ISSN 1413-294X.  https://doi.org/10.69909/1678-4669.20230023.

This article aims to discuss the repercussions of the “Chacina do Curió”, which took place in 2015 on the outskirts of Fortaleza, victimizing 11 people, mostly young people between 16 and 19 years old. The data were produced with young people, their families and professionals who knew the victims, through interviews and monitoring of social mobilization processes for memory and justice. In dialogue with Achille Mbembe and Judith Butler, we discuss how that massacre had repercussions in order to highlight the production of “death zones” and the instrumentalization of the extermination of “killable bodies”. We show how the organization of bodies in alliance as a result of the Chacina do Curió boosted micropolitics of resistance to the naturalization of deaths on the urban margins, based on acts against institutional violence. Finally, we point out that such episodes highlight the ethical challenges surrounding the problematization of the precariousness of certain lives.

Palabras clave : homicide; violence; young people; resistances; social psychology.
