Abstract

BORGES, Livia de Oliveira et al. The working conditions by the occupational groups in a university. Estud. psicol. (Natal) [online]. 2023, vol.28, n.3, pp.321-333.  Epub Mar 28, 2025. ISSN 1413-294X.  https://doi.org/10.69909/1678-4669.20230029.

We developed research to identify the working conditions perceptions by servers at Federal University of Minas Gerais and their variances for occupational groups. We applied structured questionnaires in a sample of 1047 servers (professors, technique and administrative functionaries and contracted employees) from those university. The participants’ answers showed to experience stable employment in conformity to some contractual and juridical aspects, however they also exposed aspects of precarious work. These are associated to real extension working turn, bureaucratism, overbalance between exigencies and material conditions, and political weakness of occupational collectives. As strong aspects of working conditions are the possibilities of renewing knowledge, the participation in the decisions and the assumed responsibilities. Although the identification of priorities is in the results of research, the overcoming of the problems demands complex politic organization and mobilization.

Keywords : public servers; professors; working conditions; working precarity.
