Abstract

JUNQUEIRA, Camila  and  COELHO JUNIOR, Nelson Ernesto. Limits and possibilities of dialogue: the drive theory and object relations theory. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2013, vol.35, n.29, pp.89-104. ISSN 1413-6295.

In this paper we examine the limits and possibilities of dialogue between two lines of thought in psychoanalysis: Freud´s drive theory and object relation theory represented here from the developments of Winnicott, also, featuring the precious contributions from Green to the subject. If, to Green, in principle, the opposition between these two theories does not arise, most recently the author presents his 'theories of the gradients' which corroborates our proposal to combine these theories considering the existence of two levels of apprehension of the Self.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; drive theory; object relations theory; Gradients theory; Green.
