The present article will analyze the idea of affirmation of displeasure. The affirmation of displeasure is a concept that allows us to observe a movement proper to the psychic apparatus that leads the subject to affirm an unpleasant facet of experience. This ferenczian proposal, which we can recognize as an inflection in the pleasure principle itself, brings us to dilemmas concerning the problem of trauma, cleavage, the self-destructive movement, as well as a direction to life even in the face of impending death.
