AZEVEDO, Guilherme Magnoler Guedes de and AMARAL, Henrique Uva do. The birth of psychoanalysis: from influences of Charcot and Breuer to autonomy. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.44, pp.87-109. ISSN 1413-6295.
The creation of psychoanalysis did not occur immediately or without difficulty, having been fruit of several theoretical-clinical advances. In this context, the objective of this present article is to analyze, briefly, the bibliography regarding the period considered pre-psychoanalytical in Freudian thought, in order to demonstrate how the scientific detachment of Freud in relation to Charcot and Breuer, as well as his proximity to them, were essential to his development. As regards to Charcot, after 1892 Freud intensified his interest in the psychic mechanisms involved in the etiology of the neurosis; regarding Breuer, as he got away from the theories about the hypnoid states, Freud could discover the repressed unconscious, thus creating psychoanalysis.
