The lack of research about validity of some psychological tests make their use restricted as it is the case of the Color Pyramid Test of Max Pfister. Although this test is a simple technique offering some advantages in testing individuals and it is frequently used in clinical context, there is no data on its validity concerning psychopathological diagnosis. We conducted a study investigating a sample of 15 alcoholics diagnosed with the help of the Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM-IV (SCID-I) and comparing these subjects with 109 non-patients who never looked for psychological or psychiatric treatment. All subjects took the Color Pyramid Test. The data were analyzed by means of a logistic regression. An increase in the use of the red color and the constancy in the use of violet among the patients as compared with the non-patients were observed.
