Abstract

DELL’AGLIO, Daniela Dalbosco  and  MACHADO, Paula Sandrine. Ecology of Care: Clues for research in Social Psychology. Psicol. cienc. prof. [online]. 2025, vol.45, e275228.  Epub Mar 17, 2025. ISSN 1414-9893.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1982-3703003275228.

This theoretical essay aims to weave epistemological and/or methodological clues in research in social psychology based on what we will call the “ecology of care”. To this end, the concept of “ecology” in science is retrieved to place it in a post-structuralist perspective that seeks to understand the interdependence of human and non-human agents. Still, the category of care from a feminist perspective is understood as an omnipresent practice, which, in epistemologically suggests that it occupies a central position in our analyses. This essay proposes to look at care in a “tentacular,” interdependent, and relational way, which articulates a range of actors, whether human or not. We conclude that this contribution creates a tension in the centrality attributed to the human subject in social psychology to provoke the materialities and practicalities engaged in the production of care and/or knowledge.

Keywords : Neomaterialism; Care; Ecology; Interdependence; Epistemology.
