SOUZA, Laura Vilela e; MOSCHETA, Murilo dos Santos  y  CORDEIRO, Mariana Prioli. Group with Psychologists about Social Assistance Work: Social Constructionist Strategies for Dialogue. Psicol. cienc. prof. [online]. 2026, vol.46, e286682.  Epub 10-Abr-2026. ISSN 1414-9893.  https://doi.org/10.1590/1982-3703003286682.

Recognizing the challenges highlighted in the literature about the role of psychologists in basic social protection, this article analyzes the alternatives developed by a group of psychologists to face the challenges of working at a Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) and discusses the contributions of social constructionist strategies on reflections about professional practice in this context. A total of 16 psychologists from 12 cities in São Paulo state participated in the study. Appreciative, self-reflective, and future-focused questions inspired by the Appreciative Inquiry methodology enabled questioning professional performance from user perspective, identifying resources and empowering actions, reflecting on institutional challenges, recognizing possibilities for collectivization and politicization of demands, and enhancing the sense of personal agency before structural difficulties in the services provided. The group also facilitated systematizing methodological strategies and collectively constructing alternatives to the limitations faced.
